Our second journey in West US.

This blog tells our last journey in the West of the USA in 2009.
The journey was great and we saw magnificent landscapes.

Our travel during 2009.

We arrived on Sundays at the airport of Los Angeles. We rent a car (Alamo) : direction Twentynine Palms (Ca)

We used a lot the site http://www.nps.gov/index.htm to prepare our journey.

First part : California, Arizona and New-Mexico

The road is long (162 miles) towards our first stop. We shall sleep in a motel (Motel 6 :http://www.motel6.com/?WT.srch=1) to Twentynine Palms who is one of the entrance of Joshua Tree's Park.

We leave the park by the south exit by way of the oasis situated just before the exit close to the Cottonwood Visitor Center ( I-10) .To join Arizona: direction Phoenix before forking in the direction of Tucson and the Saguaros. It is warm, the temperature reaches 94 ° F .

We leave in the direction of the Canyon of Chelly which will be our next visit.
We go, before arriving at the Canyon of Chelly, passing by "Petrified Forest Park" who is a park which goes along the interstate.

Then direction New-Mexico and Bisti Badlands : wildenerss area.
The place is magnificent with rocks of bizarre forms and fossilized tree trunks.

The next day we leave in the direction of Sky City (Acoma Pueblo).

After the visit of Santa Fe, we leave visiting the small villages in the surroundings area on the road of Taos. Some photos of the visits.

Second Part : Colorado, Arizona, and Utah

After New-Mexico, we cross the boarder so the state and arrive in Colorado.
Our first visit is Mesa Verde National Park and the the Ancestral Puebloans who lived at Mesa Verde.

After visiting Canyonlands NP (http://www.nps.gov/cany/index.htm) , Arches NP (http://www.nps.gov/arch/index.htm) we'll go to Mill creek Canyon (map : http://www.ouestusa.fr/utah/millcreek/millcreek.php) a small trial in the middle of a river.
